The science behind laser therapy

Laser therapy uses light beams of certain frequency to help accelerate the body’s natural healing processes. The laser beam is moved over the skin so that the light energy (photons) penetrates the tissue where it interacts with various molecules (chromophores) that cause different biological effects. It can produce a photochemical, photothermal and photomechanical effect.

How does it work?

• Inhibits the sensory nerve impulses associated with pain
• Stimulating cells which removes toxins
• Allowing oxygen and nourishment into the cells
• Decreases inflammatory cells
• Relaxes muscle spasm immediately
• Increases vascular supply & restores normal blood flow
• “Jumpstarting” the body’s own healing process by stimulating the mitochondria in the cells.
What to expect:

After a full clinical assessment of your condition, we will tailor your treatment protocol for you. The number of sessions you will require will depend on the condition - this will be discussed at your initial appointment. Treatments are quick and generally painless. In our experience patients often feel a reduction in pain after the first treatment.
